Wiki

A wiki is a Website that permits viewers to add, delete and change the content that has previously been posted. Brooks-Young (2010, p. 69) states “As is the case with blogs, wiki host sites provide templates that allow users to create a personal wiki in a matter of minutes. Depending on the wiki host site, it may be possible to individualize the template, but it is always possible to personalize the appearance of wiki pages by adding graphics and other online elements.” This can be a very useful tool for teachers and students to use when information needs to be shared and accessed by all involved. But unlike a blog where visitors can only make a comment, on a wiki visitors can edit information and leave mistruths. So teachers and students must be wary if they are to use this format to exchange information.
